Synthetic Varnish

Synthetic yacht varnish is a long oil alkyd resin based, single component, air drying, resistant to external effects, transparent and glossy top coat varnish. It is used for both protective and decorative purposes on wooden surfaces. It provides maximum protection in wooden applications that remain in the outdoor environment such as sea vehicles, exterior joinery, pergolas, tables, chairs. It has high UV resistance and is resistant to yellowing.

Surface Preparation and Application Method

The surface must be dry, clean, sanded and completely free of dust and oil. If there is old varnish, it should be completely scraped off or roughened with matt sandpaper.

Thinning Ratio:

  • For brush/roller 5 – 10%
  • For gun 15 – 20% thinned with synthetic thinner

Application Instructions:

  • Can be applied in 2–3 coats
  • Waiting time between coats: 16 – 24 hours
  • Light sanding (320–400 grit) is recommended between coats
  • Gun pressure: 2 – 2.5 bar
  • Nozzle diameter: 1.3 – 1.5 mm

Area that can be covered

Approximately 10 – 12 m² surface can be covered (depending on 30 – 40 micron dry film thickness).

Drying Time (23°C / 50% RH)

  • Dust-proof: 2 – 3 hours
  • Touch dry: 6 – 8 hours
  • Full dry: 24 hours
  • Outdoor resistance and maximum hardness: 5 – 7 days

Packaging

  • 0.75 L – 2.5 L – 5 L – 10 L – 20 L metal containers

Storage

  • Storage should be stored in its original packaging, in a cool and dry place (between +5°C and +30°C)
  • Protect from freezing and direct sunlight
  • Shelf life: 12 months (unopened products)
