Synthetic Top Coat Matt Varnish

Synthetic Top Coat Matt Varnish is an alkyd resin based, single component, air drying, matte looking transparent top coat varnish. It is used for decorative and protective purposes on wood, metal and primed surfaces. It gives the surface a natural and non-reflective appearance. It is especially suitable for interior applications and surfaces where low gloss is desired.

Features

  • Matte, homogeneous and natural surface appearance (5–15% gloss)
  • Air drying – single component system
  • High adhesion and protection to the surface
  • Can be applied with brush, roller or gun
  • Resistance to yellowing and cracking
  • Compatible with cellulosic and alkyd based systems

Application Area

  • Wooden furniture and decorative surfaces
  • MDF and chipboard coatings
  • Metal surfaces (doors, railings, furniture surfaces)
  • Surfaces painted with synthetic systems
  • Concrete and plastered surfaces (after suitable primer)
  • Indoor coating and final coat protection processes

Surface Preparation and Application Method

The surface to be applied must be dry, clean, dust-free and oil-free. If necessary, it must be sanded and a primer must be applied. The substrate must be completely dry.

Thinning Ratio

  • Thinned with 10–15% synthetic thinner
  • Thinning can be increased to 15–20% in gun applications

Application Instructions

  • Can be applied in 1–2 coats with brush, roller or gun
  • Waiting time between coats: 16–24 hours
  • Gun pressure: 2–2.5 bar
  • Nozzle diameter: 1.3–1.5 mm
  • Application viscosity: ~50–70 sec / DIN Cup 4 (20°C)

Area Covered

With 1 liter approximately 9 – 11 m² of surface can be covered (depending on 30 – 40 micron dry film thickness)

Drying Time (23°C / 50% relative humidity)

  • Dust-proof: 1 – 2 hours
  • Touch dry: 4 – 6 hours
  • Full dry: 24 hours
