DTM Paint

DTM Paint (Direct to Metal) is an industrial paint that can be applied directly to metal surfaces without primer, can be single or double-component, has high adhesion power, contains rust-preventive pigments, provides surface protection and decorative coating. DTM paint, which has high corrosion resistance, serves as both a primer and a top coat on the surface it is applied to. It offers ease of application and cost advantage.

Features

  • Possibility of direct application to metal without primer
  • Strong resistance to corrosion
  • Excellent adhesion to the surface
  • Resistance to scratches and impacts
  • Fast drying feature
  • Matte, semi-matte or glossy appearance options
  • Easy application with roller, brush or gun
  • Can be applied in one or two layers

Application Area

  • Industrial type machines and equipment
  • Agricultural machines and construction machines
  • Metal constructions
  • Sheet metal panels, metal roof systems
  • Trailers, container, chassis and body parts
  • All metal surfaces exposed to corrosion

Surface Preparation and Application Method

The surface must be dry, clean and free from rust, oil and silicone residues. Loose paint residues on the surface must be removed with a wire brush or sandpaper. If necessary, the surface can be prepared by sandblasting (SA 2½).

Application Instructions:

  • The single-component product is ready for immediate use
  • Mixing ratio for two-component versions:
    • 4 parts DTM Paint
    • 1 part Hardener
  • Can be diluted with 10 – 15% suitable thinner
  • Gun pressure: 2 – 2.5 bar
  • Nozzle diameter: 1.4 – 1.6 mm
  • Application viscosity: ~20 – 25 sec / DIN Cup 4 (20°C)

Area Coverable

Approx. 7 – 9 m² of area can be covered with 1 litre of the mixture (50 – 60 micron dry film thickness)

Drying Time (23°C / 50% relative humidity)

  • Dust-proof: 15 – 30 minutes
  • Touch dry: 1 – 2 hours
  • Waiting time for second coat: 2 – 4 hours
  • Full dry: 24 hours
  • Full hardness: 5 – 7 days

Packaging

1 L – 5 L – 20 L tin packages

Storage

  • In its original packaging, in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight
  • Stored between +5°C and +30°C
  • Shelf life: 12 months

Hazard Warnings

  • R10: Flammable
  • R36/38: May cause eye and skin irritation
