Cellulosic Top Coat Matt Varnish

Cellulosic Top Coat Matt Varnish is a nitrocellulose and alkyd resin based, single component, air drying top coat varnish. It is used for protective and aesthetic purposes on wood, metal and painted surfaces. It is frequently preferred in the furniture, automotive and interior decoration sectors thanks to its natural matte appearance, fast drying time and sandable structure. It provides a simple, homogeneous and professional appearance on matte surfaces.

Storage

  • Storage should be stored in its original packaging, in a cool and dry environment between +5°C and +30°C.
  • Protect from sunlight and freezing conditions.

  • R36/38: May cause eye and skin irritation

Application Area

  • Wood and MDF surfaces (furniture, panels, coating)
  • Metal surfaces (decorative and interior applications)
  • Old painted or puttyed surfaces
  • Final coat of cellulosic or nitro-based systems
  • Any decorative surface where a matt effect is desired

Application Instructions

  • Can be applied in 2–3 coats with a gun
  • Waiting time between coats: 5 – 10 minutes
  • Gun pressure: 2 – 2.5 bar
  • Nozzle diameter: 1.3 – 1.5 mm
  • Application viscosity: ~18–22 sec / DIN Cup 4 (20°C)

Surface Preparation and Application Method

The surface to be applied must be dry, clean and dust-free. The previous paint or filler coat must be completely dry and sanded. For the best result, surfaces prepared with Cellulosic Filler Varnish or Primer should be preferred.

Area to be Covered

Approximately 8 – 10 m² of surface can be covered with 1 liter (according to 30 – 40 micron dry film thickness)

Drying Time (23°C / 50% relative humidity)

  • Dust-free: 5 – 10 minutes
  • Touch dry: 15 – 30 minutes
  • Full dry: 2 – 3 hours
  • Suitable for intermediate layer sanding: 45 minutes – 1 hour
